GLORIOUS ULLSWATER

Perfect day today - clear blue skies, fantastic visibility, a few fluffy white clouds throwing dappled shadows on the mountain-sides. Laura and I walked nearly 10 miles from Wallthwaite to Patterdale, which would have been quite a reasonable effort had it not involved 2.5 miles of climbing through squelchy, boggy, tussock-gassy terrain! Really hard work! Jane joined us at Dockray for the last 5 miles, down past Aira Force and along the shores of Ullswater. Pretty tired and stiff tonight - hoping for good weather for the big climb over High Street to Kentmere tomorrow.
